Hormone Healthy Cherry Garcia 'Nice' Cream
If you’re anything like me and more than a little obsessed with Ben and Jerry’s Cherry Garcia ice cream, you’re going to LOVE this recipe!
I know it’s not exactly ice cream season anymore, but try telling that to my family. They will eat this stuff ALL. YEAR. LONG.
Team #icecreamforlife
This better for you version will satisfy your cravings, and you can feel a little better about serving it on the regular.
My 5 year old even wrote it as one of her favorite foods in preschool so I’m counting that as a major win! Broccoli, kimchi, banana ice cream and sprinkles.
She’s a real odd duck.
Annnnnyway, I’m definitely not saying you can’t eat other kinds of ice cream if that’s what you’re feeling, because no this does not taste like Ben and Jerry’s, BUT this version is gooooood... why not have both?
And it can double as breakfast (not that I know anything about that…😉)
INGREDIENTS:
🍌2-3 frozen bananas (in chunks)
🥛Splash of plant milk (add more as needed but you want it to stay THICK)
½ cup chopped 🍒(fresh or frozen)
1/4 cup chocolate chips
1 T coconut oil
DIRECTIONS:
In a food processor, add the frozen bananas and plant milk and blend until smooth. You may need to scrape down the sides a few times and add a little more milk until it reaches the desired texture.
Once smooth, transfer to a medium sized bowl and fold the chopped cherries into the banana mixture.
In a small glass bowl melt ¼ cup chocolate chips with 1 T coconut oil for a DIY magic shell. I love using @lilys_sweets chocolate chips.
Drizzle over the top and serve exactly as is.
SERVING SUGGESTIONS
The base of this banana ice cream is perfect for a variety of differnet add-in’s too. You can get pretty fancy with the toppings.
My husband and kids voted for chopped up Peanut Butter cups, but I like this version best!
